All Praise is due to Alláh, We praise Him and we seek help from Him. We ask forgiveness from Him. We repent to Him; and we seek refuge in Him from our own evils and our own bad deeds.
Anyone who is guided by Alláh, he is indeed guided; and anyone who has been left astray, will find no one to guide him.
I bear witness that there is no god but Alláh, the Only One without any partner; and I bear witness that Prophet Muhammad, SAW, is His servant, and His messenger.
“There is nothing more noble in the sight of Allah than Du’a.”
- Supplication is the essence of worship.
- Allah, the Most Exalted, says, “call upon Me; I will respond to you.” (Ghafir: 60). More to the point, Allah, the Most High, praised His servants who invoked him and sought His refuge. For instance, the Most Exalted says about His Prophets, “indeed, they used to hasten to good deeds and supplicate Us in hope and fear, and they were to Us humbly submissive.” (Al-Anbiyaa: 90).
The Prophet said: "Whoever prays during the night of Qadr with faith and hoping for its reward will have all of his previous sins forgiven." (Bukhari and Muslim recorded from Abu Huraira)
Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said: I asked the Messenger of Allah: 'O Messenger of Allah, if I know what night is the night of Qadr, what should I say during it?' He said: 'Say: O Allah, You are pardoning and You love to pardon, so pardon me.' "(Ahmad, Ibn Majah, and Tirmidhi).
اللهم انك عفو تحب العفو فاعف عنا (دعاء أوصى به الرسول للسيدة عائشة في العشر الأواخر)
The transliteration of this Dua is "Allahumma innaka `afuwwun tuhibbul `afwa fa`fu `annee"
We are in last week of month of Ramadan, a blessed month in which the believers invoke their Lord frequently and hope that their invocations get answered by the Almighty. Thus, it is recommended for the fasting Muslims to seize the opportunity of the holy month in praising their Lord as befitting to His Supreme status. They should also pray to Allah to invoke peace and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah pbuh and ask for Allah’s forgiveness. The Prophet pbuh said in this regard, “Allah, Blessed is He and Most High, said, ‘O son of Adam! Verily as
long as you called upon Me and hoped in Me, I forgave you, despite whatever may have occurred from you, and I did not mind.”
Whoever knocks on a door persistently will be allowed in. If you keep on knocking the door of Divine Mercy, sooner or later it will be opened for you.
Never get tired of Du’a, for Allah Ta’ala has attached much value to it. Allah Ta’ala says “Let My servants know that I have the power to grant My servant’s wishes.”
If Allah grants someone a chance of making Du’a, He will not deprive him of answer. A believer’s Du’a will increase his good deeds and reward him in the Hereafter as his other good deeds are rewarded. Praise Allah Almighty. Remember Him and thank Him for His blessings. Send Salaat upon the Prophet (SAW). Seek Tauba. Attain Taqwa. That is the right way for Du’a.
It may be that you dislike a thing while it is good for you, and it may be that you love a thing while it is evil for you.
So we must make Du’a to Allah, then be patient, have faith in his unquestionable decision and trust His absolute wisdom. Never have this impression that Allah Almighty has opened the door of making Dua but has closed the door of answering it. Sometimes Allah delays answering the Du’a to give a greater reward and a further blessing. What a catastrophe it would be if Allah answered every prayer at the snap of your fingers., Allah’s delay is not Allah’s denial. Allah’s timing is perfect. Patience and trust is needed.
If I were to summarize the whole concept of Du’a into one single statement, it would be this:
Du’a is a form of Ibaadat, such a powerful Ibaadat that it can create and alter Qismat.
So the moral of the story is that where there is du’a, there is hope
Supplication is the essence and spirit of worship. In the most comprehensive form of worship, the daily prayers, Surah Fatiha is read during each prayer cycle. Believers who perform their prayers read Surah Fatiha every day during their prayers; this is a part of the daily worship and encompasses all forms of dhikr, the remembrance of Allah. Surah Al Fatiha, which is regarded as the key to the Holy Qur’an, contains the most beautiful sentences of prayer, and thus the Muslim is constantly immersed in prayers. This is proof of how much a believer must be continuously involved with prayer.
The supplication of a believer for his brother in his absence will certainly be answered. Every time he makes a supplication for good for his brother, the angel appointed for this particular task says Ameen! May it be for you too’.” [Sahih Muslim].
Allah, the Most Merciful, emphasised this when spoke in His Book about the supplications of Ibrahim pbuh. The Almighty says,
رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ
“my Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication.” (Ibrahim: 40).
I would like to conclude my words with a hadith: “The difference between those who remember their Creator and those who do not is like [the difference between] the living and the dead.”
The messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “If Allah desires to do good to someone, He will give them deep understanding of the religion.” [al-Bukhari]
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ يُرِدِ اللهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهْهُ في الدِّينِ. رواه البخاري.
