It is considered good manners when someone did you a favor to give thanks as a token of appreciation.
Giving thanks is not only an ethics of good character but also an act of worship in Islam. Yes indeed by giving thanks genuinely , you get rewarded for it by the most merciful, the creator of heavens and earths and all that we see and don’t see ( unseen worlds )
What about giving thanks to the one who give you life , hearing , health and so many blessings that we are unable to count .
Give thanks to your creator for all the blessings he bestowed upon us .
How many of us are truly grateful to Allah when we reflect on the blessings that He has given us for free! We didn’t do anything to earn these blessings! And yet we don’t reflect and we’re not grateful.
Allah said in Quran Suratul Mu’minun, 23:78,
وَهُوَ الَّذِى أَنْشَأَ لَكُمُ السَّمْعَ وَالاٌّبْصَـرَ وَالاٌّفْئِدَةَ قَلِيلاً مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ
It is He Who has created for you hearing, eyes, and hearts (understanding, intellect). Little thanks you give.)
Have we considered the fact that we can see , others are blind .
The fact we can talk and hear , some are deaf .
The fact we can walk , run others are paralyzed.
Often times it is not until we lose one of these blessings ( health , wealth ....) that we realize the huge blessing that we had.
The more you give thanks , the more blessings you shall receive .
Allah's reward for your gratitude is unlimited and unconditional. "If you are grateful, I will surely give you more and more" (Ibrahim 14:7
"It is He Who brought you forth from the wombs of your mothers when you knew nothing; and He gave you hearing and sight and intelligence and affection: that you may give thanks (to Allah)"(An-Nahl, 16:78).
Showing gratitude to Allah is part and parcel of having faith in Him. This means that a person who is ungrateful to Allah has no true faith in his or her heart. Gratefulness to Allah may be expressed by the heart, by the tongue, or through good deeds and gestures. True gratefulness by the heart is manifested through sincere belief that all the blessings we have—the known and the unknown—our very existence, our life, our body, our physical appearance, and all our abilities and accomplishments are from Allah. The Qur’an says,
وَمَا بِكُم مِّن نِّعْمَةٍ فَمِنَ اللَّهِ
“Whatever blessing you have is from Allah” (al-Nahl, 16:53).
31:12
"...and, indeed, we granted this wisdom unto Luqman: “Be grateful unto God - for he who is grateful [unto Him] is but grateful for the good of his own self; whereas he who chooses to be ungrateful [ought to know that], verily, God is self-sufficient, ever to be praised!” -
