Sheikh yasir Qadri said : Today is the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, the Day of Arafah.
It is a day of prayer for the pilgrims, and for those of us not at Hajj. It is authentically narrated from a number of early authorities that they would spend the 9th in prayer and du'a and dhikr, sometimes congregating in the masjids, and sometimes praying at home.
Also, our Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "The best dua is the dua of Arafah," and while no doubt the lion's share of this hadith applies to the pilgrims physically at Arafat, scholars mention that the day too is blessed, even for non-pilgrims.
So fast on this day, and do as many good deeds as you can, and especially make du'a for all your worldly and spiritual needs.
May Allah accept from the pilgrims and allow them to return safe to their lands, and may Allah accept from us and answer our prayers and allow us to join the pilgrims in future years! Ameen....
‘The best of supplications is the supplication on the day of AAarafah and the best which I and the Prophets before me have said (is):
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَريكَ لَهُ، لَهُ المُلْكُ ولَهُ الحَمْدُ وهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَديرٌ.
La ilaha illal-lahu wahdahu la shareeka lah, lahul-mulku walahul-hamd, wahuwa AAala kulli shayin qadeer.
