The Islamic Center of Irving and the Muslim community of the Dallas Fort Worth area would like to send our condolences to friends, families, and communities of the victims of the shooting in Orlando, FL. Life is sacred in Islam and whoever takes a life it is as if they have taken the life of all of humanity. We join the rest of America in anger and confusion at the absurdity of such an attack on our fellow Americans. Nothing can justify such ruthless and senseless acts of violence and terrorism. We pray that God protects our country and our communities. We ask God to bring peace to our communities and grant us solidarity during this time of tragedy.
PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. - In response to a nightclub shooting in Orlando Sunday morning, members of the Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations are urging Muslims to donate blood to those who are injured.
"We condemn this monstrous attack and offer our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of all those killed or injured," Rasha Munarak, the CAIR Florida Orlando regional coordinator. "The Muslim community joins our fellow Americans in repudiating anyone or any group that would claim to justify or excuse such an appalling act of violence."
Tarek El-Messidi:
" The Orlando shooter is just as "Muslim" as an abortion clinic bomber is "Christian". He is an enemy of Islam - a traitor who has paved his path to Hell, not Paradise. "
My Islam, and the Islam of 99.999% of my co-religionists, is the Islam of Muhammad Ali.
It's the Islam of the 30% of critical care doctors - all Muslim - who treated the victims in Orlando today.
It's the Islam of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, who taught that "the best of people are those who benefit others the most."
Sheich HakimQuick Condemnation of the Senseless Killings in Orlando,Florida.
This is the work of a deranged, sick person; Islam has nothing to do with this insanity. We stand in solidarity with our Canadian Council of Imams who have just released:
The Canadian Council of Imams (CCI) strongly condemns the mass shooting in Orlando this morning. Our prayers and thoughts are with the victims and their families. We applaud the efforts of first responders in treating the wounded and injured and call on authorities to bring any one involved in this terrible crime to justice.
The CCI makes it very clear that human life is sacred in Islam and that protecting it is one of the primary objectives of the religion.
”The safety and well-being of our neighbours and fellow citizens must always be respected and protected, regardless of their race, religion, ethnicity, personal persuasions, sexual orientation or political affiliations. We strongly condemn all acts of violence, particularly those motivated by racism and homophobia.”
The CCI reiterates the following from its national declaration:
”Islam is a religion of nature and humanity, one that teaches that a person cannot be a good Muslim until he/she becomes a good human being. All human beings are equal, and all of them are the children of Adam and Eve (peace be upon them). The best Muslim is the one who is good to his/her family and neighbors and one who avoids harming others with his/her hand or tongue.”

The Qur’an, Islam’s revealed text, states: "Whoever kills a person [unjustly]…it is as though he has killed all mankind. And whoever saves a life, it is as though he had saved all mankind." (Qur’an, 5:32)
Prophet Muhammad said there is no excuse for committing unjust acts: "Do not be people without minds of your own, saying that if others treat you well you will treat them well, and that if they do wrong you will do wrong to them. Instead, accustom yourselves to do good if people do good and not to do wrong (even) if they do evil." (Al-Tirmidhi)
God mandates moderation in faith and in all aspects of life when He states in the Qur’an: “We made you to be a community of the middle way, so that (with the example of your lives) you might bear witness to the truth before all mankind.” (Qur’an, 2:143)
In another verse, God explains our duties as human beings when he says: “Let there arise from among you a band of people who invite to righteousness, and enjoin good and forbid evil.” (Qur’an, 3:104)
Islam teaches us to act in a caring manner to all of God's creation. The Prophet Muhammad, who is described in the Qur’an as “a mercy to the worlds” said: “All creation is the family of God, and the person most beloved by God (is the one) who is kind and caring toward His family."
In the light of the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah we clearly and strongly state:
1. All acts of terrorism targeting civilians are haram (forbidden) in Islam.
2. It is haram for a Muslim to cooperate with any individual or group that is involved in any act of terrorism or violence.
3. It is the civic and religious duty of Muslims to cooperate with law enforcement authorities to protect the lives of all civilians.
