With special sessions for activists, educators, youth, and those eager to engage in Islamic studies from great scholars, we have something for you! One session of particular importance is led by Jamal Badawi, Tayyibah Taylor, and Altaf Husain will help prepare you to answer the often repeated question of "what is shariah anyway?"

While many of us have a vague understanding of what shariah means, we find ourselves at a loss to accurately explain its meaning to people of other faiths and to help them understand the many rights and freedoms protected by Islamic law and consistent with the Constitution. This session will provide these answers and more to help prepare you to respond to misunderstandings about Islamic law.

A special youth track for MYNA and MSA will include everything from preparing for and learning the rights and obligations of marriage "Love & Marriage the Halal Way" with Altaf Husain and others to a leadership workshop led by Johari Abdul-Malik and Ahmed Bedier.

The danger of disrespecting your parents

The Holy Prophet (S) said. “One who displeases the parents, (it is as if) he has displeased Allah. The idea of Jesus dying on the cross is central to the Christian belief. It represents the conviction that Jesus died for the sins of mankind. The crucifixion of Jesus is a vital doctrine in Christianity; however Muslims reject it completely. Before describing what Muslims believe about Jesus’ crucifixion, it may be useful to understand the Islamic reaction to the notion of original sin. When Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden tree in paradise, they were not tempted by a serpent. It was Satan who deceived and cajoled them, whereupon they exercised their free will and made an error in judgement. Eve does not bear the burden of this mistake alone. Together, Adam and Eve realised their disobedience, felt remorse and begged for God’s forgiveness. God, in his infinite mercy and wisdom, forgave them.
