Marathon is great for your health

Need another reason to sign up for that marathon in 2020? New research suggests training and running a marathon for the first time could reverse some of the effects of aging on our bodies. Researchers found that for the 138 healthy, first-time marathon runners they tracked, training and ocompleting the London marathon was associated with a four-year reduction in their "vascular age." Specifically, they found that marathon training reversed the age-related stiffening of the body's main artery and helped reduce blood pressure. As we age, the walls of our arteries, which deliver oxygen and nutrients to all our vital organs, grow thicker and stiffer, making our heart work harder to pump blood around our body. While a normal part of aging, this can contribute to the risk of cardiovascular disease, dementia and kidney disease, the study said. Our study shows it is possible to reverse the consequences of aging on our blood vessels with real-world exercise in just six months,...

Climate change a reality

Climate change is real, don’t let anyone deceive you. Just look at Australia, Indonesia and so many catastrophic events unfolding while people invested in oil try to deny the overwhelming scientific data. You don’t have to be a scientist to notice just have a critical, analytical and objective point of view to notice that it’s an existential issue that puts our livelihood to the test. Are we going to do something about climate change?  Whether we acknowledge it’s reality or not, the situation will continue to worsen if we don’t act. Throughout the Islamic tradition, the Quran and the sayings of the Prophet Muhammed, there is clear evidence that as humans it is our duty to care for this Earth. Where is the evidence that we should care? The first piece of evidence comes from the Quran. ظَهَرَ الْفَسَادُ فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِي النَّاسِ لِيُذِيقَهُم بَعْضَ الَّذِي عَمِلُوا لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ – 30:41 “Corruption has appeared throughout the land and sea by [...

Be just

Justice in Islam  In Islam, we should always stand for justice as a matter of principle, whether for Muslims or non-Muslims, even if justice should side against us. O you who believe, be persistently standing firm in justice as witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives. Whether one is rich or poor, Allah is more worthy of both. Follow not your desires, lest yo...

Always be positive and never lose hope

Never give up , never lose hope  “ failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently “ "Focus on your strengths, not your weaknesses. Focus on your character, not your reputation. Focus on your blessings, not your misfortunes". In response to the growing Islamophobia always remember: The Almighty has gifted you with unique abilities and talents. They’re special to you. Remember, He blesses us all differently. Never allow anyone to make you feel insignificant. Such people love to make another person feel as though they aren't important. Don’t stand for it! ‬ When faced with trials and tribulations always remember: We need to be patient and seek reward in our hardship. Allah, the Almighty, knows of our pain and will reward us greatly for exercising patience. Indeed, He promises Paradise for those who adopt sabr. And (He) will reward them for what they patiently endured (with) a garden (in Paradise) and silk (garments). [Surah Insan 76:12] All of...

Let us all care for the environment

Throughout the Islamic tradition, if we ponder the Quran and the sayings of the Prophet Muhammed, there is clear evidence that as humans it is our duty to care for this Earth not to pollute it .  It is a shame to see some so called Muslims counties who are polluting nature especially oil producers rather than saving the earth as mandated by our beloved prophet of mercy .  Let us take a closer look how Islam order us to be steward of the planet 🌎. Where is the evidence that we should care? The first piece of evidence comes from the Quran. ‎ظَهَرَ الْفَسَادُ فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِي النَّاسِ لِيُذِيقَهُم بَعْضَ الَّذِي عَمِلُوا لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ – 30:41 “Corruption has appeared throughout the land and sea by [reason of] what the hands of people have earned so He may let them taste part of [the consequence of] what they have done that perhaps they will return [to righteousness].”

Creation versus evolution

"Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding. Those who remember Allâh (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): "Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to You! (Exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners). Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire". [Qur'an 3:190-191] The signs of Allah are only revealed to those who have intellect which leads to knowing the truth [Allah]. However, the disbelievers do not put what they see in the universe beyond the realm of watching—i.e. they do not think about the Maker and the Creator. They even do not realize the wisdom behind this creation as in the words of Allah: "They know only the outside appearance of the life of the world". [Qur'an 30:7]
